Associate General Counsel

Toni Grace Douglas joined OGC in November 2019 as Associate General Counsel. Her practice focuses primarily on legal issues related to student affairs and public safety, including civil and constitutional rights, student conduct, campus safety, and Title IX. Toni’s practice areas also include real estate, including capital projects and facilities, and employment, including Title VII and other employment matters related to both EHRA and SHRA employees.

Prior to coming to UNC-Greensboro, Toni was an Associate University Attorney at East Carolina University, where she began working as an Assistant University Attorney in 2016. While at ECU, Toni advised on a broad range of legal and compliance issues.  Her practice focused on the application of laws and regulations to the Student Affairs Division’s policies and procedures, including student conduct, FERPA, Title IX, and threat assessment. She also provided counsel on employment issues and was responsible for the review of general contracts and affiliation agreements. Toni also provided advice to the ECU Community School, ECU’s lab school, and the Innovative Early College High School, ECU’s early college. Prior to working at ECU, Toni was a litigation associate with a mid-sized firm in Winston-Salem, NC, focusing her practice on business litigation, real estate, landlord-tenant, and employment matters.

Toni graduated from Duke University and Wake Forest University School of Law, where she was a member of the Moot Court Board.

Toni is a member of the Education and Government & Public Sector Law sections of the North Carolina Bar Association and a member of the National Association of College and University Attorneys (NACUA). She is a former member of the Twin City Stage Board of Directors and a graduate of Leadership Winston-Salem.
