Michael “Mike” Jung joined the OGC in 2011 as an Assistant General Counsel, was promoted to Associate General Counsel in 2012, and to Senior Associate General Counsel in August 2015. He has also served as interim General Counsel. Mike has been practicing law for 24 years, and has more than 17 years of experience in a university setting advising board members, senior administrators, and faculty members on a broad array of legal issues, including complex contracts, research and technology transfer, and intellectual property issues.

Mike’s practice focuses on business transactions and contracts, research, technology transfer, copyright and other forms of intellectual property, and advising on federal and state regulatory matters. Prior to coming to UNC Greensboro, Mike served the Massachusetts Institute of Technology for ten years as Associate Counsel, advising senior administrators and faculty on legal issues relating to intellectual property, sponsored research, technology licensing, procurement, and technology-related matters. Prior to joining MIT, he practiced in Boston as senior legal advisor for MyCounsel.com, and as legal counsel for Quinlan Publishing.

Mike graduated from the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Law, where he was Note and Comment Editor for the Buffalo Law Review, and the State University of New York at Stony Brook.

Mike is an active member of the National Association of College and University Attorneys (NACUA) and serves on the Editorial Board of NACUA Notes, the Association of University Technology Managers, the North Carolina Bar Association, the Greensboro Bar Association, the 10th Judicial District Bar, and the Wake County Bar Association.
